One Step Closer

So last year I decided to return back to school and finish what I started. I want to be able to say to my son that I actually did something better and so can he. I even got the hubby to make some time and got to school as well. I want both of us to set an example that college is not difficult or even a tech college is fine too.

Anywho.... I started by taking online courses because that way I could still be at home with Connor and do my schooling. I found that if you live in the state of California and is a spouse of a military member, one a bunch of fees were waived and the state would pay for most of your education. Once I found all that out I had to take advantage of the great offers!!!!! I signed up for Barstow Community College and started my classes. I had been out of school for about 4 years and was a little nervous, so started off by taking one class at a time. I was acing the classes left and right and I was proving to myself that I COULD do this whole college thing!

The next thing you know we were moving to another place! Texas doesn't offer the same stuff that California did with paying for school. I started looking at other options. I applied for the scholarship that helps spouses of military members pay for education. I received $6000 and was just overwhelmed!!!! I was not expecting I would get that much. So I actually decided then to take school even more serious!!! I looked again for a new school and came acrossed Brighton College and they offer a program for Pharmacy Technician. I paid in full for my entire program with my MyCAA scholarship money. I am so very grateful for everything that the military can offer for us spouses! So THANK YOU so much!!!

When I attended Barstow Community College my GPA was 3.67 and right now I'm attending Brighton and my GPA so far is a 4.0. And as a total GPA I have a 3.86. I can not believe I am doing so well and I know I can keep this up. I have 5 more classes and then I am finished with my program of study and can start working again!

Again I am so proud of myself, but I am even prouder of my husband! He goes to work every single day, and then comes home to do schoolwork as well. He has so much stuff going on with work, home, and personal stuff.... AND still finds the time to be a student! For him the Army pays a good portion of his tuition and the rest get paid by the Pell Grant. He is doing so great in his classes as well. He should be finished with his program of study within the next two years if not earlier.

With doing all of this we are ONE  STEP CLOSER........ in having a better life together.

A Great Homemade Christmas Gift

Here is an EASY and inexpensive gift idea for friends ad family.

Scented Bath Salts

All you need is...

  • Epsom Salt
  • Esstenial oil of your choice
  • Small jars or containers
  • Ribbion to decorate the jars
  • Optional : Color dye

In a large bowl combine the Epsom salt with the essential oil. For every cup of Epson salt add 5 drops of the esstential oil. Mix well and when the scent of the oil is really strong it is finished.

*Optional: You can also add the color dye in at this time to give it a pop of color.

Now you pour some of the scented salt mix into a jar or a container. Then make a tag saying, " 4-6 tablespoon per bath and ENJOY!"

Next get your ribbon and wrap it around the jar or container. Also don't forget to attach the message with it as well.

Again this can be a great and wonderful gift for friends, teacher, neighbors, and family members....WHOEVER!

Christmas Treats...

So last year, I had a friend who gave us a Christmas present of yummy homemade treats. She had made some chocolate bon bons that my husband just adored and gobbled it. After seeing how much he enjoyed the little bite size delights, I wanted to try to make him some more for New Year's. Well, I spent a few days looking up different kinds of recipes and getting all the ingredients. I thought I found a good recipe, it had step by step instructions with pictures, dummy proof I'd say. Yeah well I guess not for me, lol! I promise you that I followed each step to the T, and somehow the same out all sticky and the chocolate was suppose to harden on the outside but that didn't harden. At the end of my little project, my husband said that he still enjoy my version of the little bite size goodness but this year I want to try to make them "the right way"! So again I have been looking at ALL different kinds of recipes and the picture that is above is the way I would like for them to look this year! So if anyone out there could help me with a good recipe or even a list of the ingredients, I would greatly appreciate it!!!! These are going to be my special little treats for the hubby and kid!!! THANKS!!!!

Oh how I love Christmas time....

Ok, so as of this point in time, I have the outside of the house, the tree and the inside of the house all decorated; and its all ready for Christmas. I basically have all the gifts wrapped and placed by the tree. Amazing Connor has not even tried once to open any of them.... that has been a blessing in it's self! lol

Now this week there are still a few more things to do before I can FULLY relax and enjoy the holiday. First off I have some major cleaning that has to be done since we are having company for the first week of our block leave (Christmas leave). Then just a little early planning on what will be Christmas dinner this year.

My  family has always had a Christmas ritual and personally I would absolutely love to continue it with my family. So I explained it to my husband and well he never said no to the idea, lol.  So I need to find the best neighborhood's in town that has the best light display. Because on the 23nd we will be driving around looking  at Christmas lights. Oh right now Connor so super excited about any and every house that has lights on them. So I know he'll love that! On Christmas Eve as a family we are going to watch a bunch of Christmas movies and eat popcorn and stuff like that! As for Christmas morning, we will be doing the same as everyone else, spending time with my husband and son open all the gifts together. Then my hubby and and I will start cooking the food for dinner. All of this is why December is one of the best months!!!

Lastly I have a few doctor appointments next week do go to. Then maybe I can relax and take in the Christmas season...... Oh how I love Christmas time!!!!
